Mechanical Design and Development Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design and Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development of mechanical solutions for complex defence systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Identify, analyze, and specify design improvement projects and NPD projects.
- Work with internal project teams and external design partners to solve complex problems and deliver mechanical systems designs that meet regulatory and stakeholder needs.
- Manage design evolution, DFMEA, and optimize engineering solutions against requirements, within budget and timescales.
- Provide leadership and technical direction on business programmes to ensure delivery of mechanical engineering solutions.
- Work in accordance with the mechanical and company design lifecycles.
- Formulate prototype designs and produce physical representations.
- Provide key support to critical technical problem investigations and deliver effective solutions.
- Chair, support, and facilitate reviews and sign off release of mechanical designs in accordance with business and industry standards.
- Engineering, Technical, or Science Degree/MSc qualified, or equivalent, with demonstrable aerospace, defence, or related experience.
- Demonstrate understanding of engineering first principles applied to problem-solving and concurrent engineering practices.
- Experience in mechanical engineering detailed design, including engineering design, analysis, tolerance studies, and generation of technical documentation.
- Ability to lead teams and engage with customers, demonstrating the ability to fulfill customer and regulatory requirements.
- Able to communicate complex technical aspects clearly and concisely.
- Appreciation of Systems Engineering approach and Project Management Fundamentals.
- Business awareness, understanding of fundamental business principles, drivers, and key customers with the ability to make effective trade-offs.
