Job Summary:

Hunter Selection is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's established design team in Droitwich, Worcestershire. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components for the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical components for automotive applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide technical guidance to customers to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Attend specification meetings with global customers to discuss project requirements and expectations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design and engineering processes.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) principles.
  • Ability to read and produce 2D production drawings, applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) where necessary.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Minimum HNC in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a design engineering role.
