Mortuary Anatomical Pathology Specialist

Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Mortuary Anatomical Pathology Technician to join our Cellular Pathology team. The successful candidate will work closely with anatomical pathology technicians, mortuary assistants, and pathologists during post-mortem procedures.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of post-mortem dissection techniques, including advanced reconstruction and infection control measures. They must be able to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
The role involves working in a fast-paced environment, handling body fluids and human tissue samples, and interacting with colleagues, patients, and their families. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to remain calm and composed in emotionally challenging situations.
The successful candidate will have a Level 4 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology from the Royal Institute of Public Health (RIPH) or equivalent relevant experience. A valid driver's license and ability to travel across trust sites are also required.
In return for your expertise and dedication, we offer a competitive salary range of £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for career development.
Key Responsibilities- Perform post-mortem procedures, including forensic examinations
- Register deceased patients, release bodies to funeral directors, and enter patient details onto laboratory computer systems
- Liaise with trust staff and the general public, providing excellent customer service and support
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation, adhering to health and safety protocols
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotas, responding to emergencies and unexpected situations
- Level 4 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or equivalent relevant experience
