Ashford and St Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is currently seeking qualified Healthcare Support Workers to join their team across various adult inpatient areas. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality patient care and wish to develop their skills and experience within the NHS.

Job Summary:

  • This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide direct patient care, supporting Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates in delivering exceptional care.
  • The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including long days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including meeting hygiene, continence, nutrition, pressure area care, and mobility needs.
  • Taking and recording patients' vital signs, identifying, and escalating changes to a patient's condition.
  • Providing one-to-one observation for patients who present a high risk of harm and vulnerable patients.
  • Undertaking training and competencies related to the role, such as ECGs, venepuncture, and cannulation, and other department-specific competencies.
  • Escorting patients to different departments, such as x-ray.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy department, restocking equipment, and ensuring infection prevention and control measures are upheld.
  • Training and supporting new and junior team members.

Requirements:

  • Recent and previous NHS experience as a healthcare support worker for a minimum of six months.
  • Having successfully achieved the Care Certificate.
