About Neighbourly Lab's Initiative

Neighbourly Lab is a non-profit organisation dedicated to fostering social connections. This role focuses on programmes promoting social connection in supermarkets, supported by a National lottery Funded project. The programme is currently running trials in Glasgow and seeks a Community Coordinator to lead the work in Birmingham.

The Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage with local voluntary and community organisations to recruit participants and develop ideas for engagement. They will run engagement sessions for the community to scope their interests in utilising the space in the agreed store/s. The Community Coordinator will coordinate and lead activities in-store over the 12-week trial in partnership with the Asda Community Champion in Small Heath.

Key Skills and Experience

Excellent planning and logistical skills, community engagement experience, excellent communication skills with various stakeholders, and a warm and friendly approach are essential. The ideal candidate should be experienced in managing their time, proactive, and happy to work independently. They should also be able to travel to the Asda Small Heath store regularly throughout the 12-week trial and to other areas in Birmingham as required.

Further Details

The role is home-based in Birmingham, with regular visits to the Asda Small Heath store. The trials will run for 12 weeks, and the successful candidate will work under the direction and management of the Programme lead. This is a freelance opportunity for an initial 4 months, working 3 days a week. The hourly rate is £20ph, and expenses such as travel and subsistence will be covered separately.
