About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Recycling Engagement Officer to join our Land and Communities Team in Northumberland. This exciting opportunity will engage with households and partners across the region to reduce contamination in the recycling waste stream and change recycling behaviors.

The successful candidate will work closely with Northumberland County Council and Suez Recycling and Recovery to deliver a programme of targeted doorstep engagement, monitoring, and community engagement activity aimed at reducing contamination and increasing recycling rates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with residents to promote correct recycling practices and reduce contamination in the recycling waste stream;">
  • Work with the County Council's Refuse Collection Teams and Waste Managers to deliver a programme of targeted doorstep engagement and monitoring activity;">
  • Exercise delegated powers to address residential waste offences and promote environmental responsibility;">

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand legislation and council policies. You will also have a strong passion for making a positive impact on the environment and be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
