Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team in General Practice. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of pharmacy services in our GP practices, working closely with Primary Care General Practice Clinical Pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use and develop expertise working as part of a multidisciplinary practice team to support the delivery of pharmacy services.
  • Support the work of the Primary and Community Care Pharmacy Team in developing prescribing software, databases, electronic formularies, and other initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of the role of the pharmacy technician, including supporting technician reviews and specials monitoring.
  • Work collaboratively with patients and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of medicines, either through qualification or demonstrable experience.
  • Excellent IT skills and communication skills to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Clinical knowledge, good communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work with patients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Qualified pharmacy technician with SQA National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences and SVQ level 3 – Pharmacy Services, or equivalent qualification.
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPHC).
  • Commitment to Continuous Professional Development.

Working Arrangements

This is a permanent position, working 37 hours per week. You may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day in accordance with Agenda for Change terms and conditions. A car driving license/car ownership is essential for this role.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is committed to reducing working hours

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings. NHS Ayrshire & Arran will implement this change as soon as it is safe to do so.
