Mental Health Support Specialist

A leading specialist school in Newbury seeks a recent Psychology or Criminology graduate to join their support team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in supporting children with psychological needs and be passionate about mental health support.
This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate hoping to become a trained Psychologist in the future. You will work collaboratively with the class teacher and other experienced staff members to educate pupils, manage challenging behaviors, and provide one-to-one support to ensure they are on task.
The students at this school come from diverse backgrounds, facing challenges related to trauma, neglect, attachment issues, and anxiety. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping them manage their emotions in a healthy manner, regulate and process their feelings, and cope independently in the future.
You will facilitate various therapeutic techniques and employ restorative practices aimed at promoting mental well-being. This is an excellent chance to build your experience working with children in need of mental health support, alongside experienced Psychologists and Therapists based at the school.
