Main Purpose and Accountability of the Role

The Head of IT Infrastructure will be responsible for leading the Technology Infrastructure department, ensuring the strategy aligns with business objectives and is executed effectively. This includes formulating and executing strategy, setting objectives and business plans, and managing costs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and develop the department's strategy, ensuring it is in line with business objectives and agreed with relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead, direct, control, and manage staff within the department to ensure they understand their responsibilities, comply with company policies and procedures, and conduct themselves in a manner commensurate with company values.
  • Manage and monitor the department's risk and IT infrastructure inventory to control the company's exposure within predefined limits prescribed by IT Risk Management and established by the Firm's Risk Management Committee.
  • Contribute to the company's revenue target and enhance the worldwide franchise of MUFG.
  • Maintain and enhance good working relationships between the IT Infrastructure department and stakeholders, including business, control, and other technology teams globally.
  • Plan and prepare the department's annual budget, document budget expenditures, and monitor the department's expenditure to ensure cost controls are always in place.
  • Manage, maintain, support, develop, and set strategy on all IT Infrastructure elements.
  • Manage the production environment to ensure it meets agreed service standards, SLAs, and KPIs.
  • Coordinate with other expert teams to provide a complete architecture roadmap and direction for Enterprise Infrastructure.
  • Build strong relationships across the Bank and Securities business functions and business areas, underpinned by trust and the core values of the bank.
  • Coordinate the activities of the IT Infrastructure senior management team.
  • Delegate the management of the department's manuals and policy documents, ensuring they are up-to-date and remain 'fit for purpose'.
Risk Management

The Head of IT Infrastructure will be responsible for monitoring and taking action further to their delegated authority in respect of the risk being run across the IT Infrastructure. This includes:

  • Managing all relevant risks, including IT Risk, operational, and conduct risks, within the firm's risk appetite.
  • Conducting business in line with internal policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring the Global Governance Standards are supported by appropriate and effective compliance policies and procedures that are applied consistently across the IT Infrastructure.
  • Ensuring the information supplied by the IT Infrastructure team for risk reporting is well managed and within the policies established by the Company and Operating Entity's Boards and appropriate committees.
  • Ensuring IT controls are in place to mitigate all risks for the department.
  • Supporting and partnering with the IT Risk, Security, and Control department in defining new policies and procedures covering all areas of responsibility.
  • Managing compliance to policies, standards, and procedures set against IT infrastructure.
Technical Capability

The Head of IT Infrastructure will be responsible for:

  • Data Centres
  • Networks (including firewall technology)
  • External connectivity
  • Communications, Telephony (including switchboard and voice recording)
  • Virtualisation technology (including containerisation)
  • Operating systems
  • Cloud services (where applicable)
  • Collaboration tools
  • Servers, Desktops, Storage (online, offline, and backup)
  • Databases
  • Threat and vulnerability management (where applicable)
  • All related hardware and software
People

The Head of IT Infrastructure will be responsible for:

  • Building a team of high-quality professionals that will achieve the objectives of the broader MUFG Group.
  • Ensuring all staff in their remit are fully trained and understand what is required of them to do their jobs effectively.
  • Ensuring the department meets target resourcing KPIs that are in line with wider Technology department objectives.
  • Managing people across the entire team, ensuring the right people are in the right roles with a strong focus on building future capabilities.
Performance and Duties

The role holder will be assessed in accordance with their employing entity's performance framework and process with relevant input obtained from the dual-hatting entity as relevant.

The role holder will carry out other duties as are within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the role as requested by their line manager or Department Head.
