About the Role

AWE is seeking an experienced Associate Data Centre Technician to join our team in the Thames Valley area. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for maintaining and promoting high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality
  • Deliver technical excellence in the planning and coordination of rack space allocation within the Data Centres and Comms rooms
  • Audit the AWE estate IT communication rooms in accordance with the JSP 604 framework
  • Responsible for code changes within the secure IT environment and to keep stakeholders informed of code updates
  • Diagnose and resolve problems, escalating to team members or other teams and vendors when required
  • Support the Technical Service Manager and Team Leaders in maintaining the operational status, maximising availability of assets to programme demanders
  • Record and report on Power consumption, cooling, and utilisation of assets within the Data Centres and Comms Rooms at AWE sites
Requirements
  • Good communicator with sound facilitation skills and capable of providing up to date information regarding the Communications environment to stakeholders
  • Ability to operate under pressure and influence decisions
  • Work closely with Stakeholders to provide a resolution to ensure that the Communications environment is compliant in accordance with MOD regulations
  • Technical investigation and problem-solving skills
  • Highly proficient computing skills
