Job Summary

Haart Estate Agents is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Client Accounting professional to lead our Client Accounting team in Newport. As the Head of Client Accounting, you will be responsible for managing, developing, and coaching a team of ten, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financials, and providing administrative support to the lettings operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of client accountants, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Supervise the team and manage workflow, ensuring daily deadlines are met, including bank account and card receipts, disbursement processes, and draft/final statement checking.
  • Ensure weekly deadlines are met, including bank reconciliations, non-resident landlord updates, external insurance reporting, and tenancy deposit scheme upkeep.
  • Process and file HMRC quarterly and annual documents on behalf of clients.
  • Produce income and expenditure reports and invoices.
  • Manage and review client accounting system end-of-month processes, agency fee, and miscellaneous reporting.
  • Month-end processing and reporting to the Head Office finance team.
  • Manage and review various client accounts housekeeping/quality control reports/exception reports.
  • Continuous improvement of processes to strengthen internal controls.
  • Produce client accounting policies and training process documents.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-review.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong proficiency in using basic Microsoft packages, notably Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Minimum GCSE Maths and English C or above, but higher educational levels preferable.
  • Previous experience of client accounting essential.
  • Previous experience of ARLA regulation desirable.

What We Offer

  • Basic salary between £30,000 - £35,000 per year (dependent on experience).
  • Full training will be provided.
  • Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm.
  • Reporting to Group Finance Director.

Eligibility

  • Full UK driving license.
  • Legal entitlement to live and work in the UK.
  • Proof of address, national insurance, and drivers license check.
