Head of Client Accounting

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Client Accounts to join our team at Spicerhaart. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing and developing a team of client accountants, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financials for our clients, and providing administrative support to the lettings operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a team of client accountants, providing coaching and guidance to ensure they meet their performance targets.
- Supervise the team and manage workflow, ensuring daily deadlines are met, including bank account reconciliations, disbursement processes, and draft/final statement checking.
- Deal with incoming queries, internal and external, in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure weekly deadlines are met, including bank reconciliations, non-resident landlord updates, and external insurance reporting.
- Process and file HMRC quarterly and annual documents on behalf of clients.
- Produce income and expenditure reports and invoices.
- Manage and review client accounting system end-of-month processes, agency fee, and miscellaneous reporting.
- Month-end processing and reporting to the Head Office finance team.
- Manage and review various client accounts housekeeping/quality control reports/exception reports.
- Continuous improvement of processes to strengthen internal controls.
- Produce client accounting policies and training process documents.
Requirements
- Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to self-review.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Strong proficiency in using basic Microsoft packages, notably Word and Excel.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Minimum GCSE Maths and English C or above, but higher educational levels preferable.
- Previous experience of client accounting essential.
- Previous experience of ARLA regulation desirable.
What We Offer
- Basic salary between £30,000 - £35,000 per year (dependent on experience).
- Full training will be provided, including handover from the existing Client Accounts Manager and training to familiarize with company processes.
- Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm.
- Reporting to the Group Finance Director.
Eligibility
- Full UK driving license.
- Legal entitlement to live and work in the UK (in accordance with the Immigration Asylum and Nationality Act 2006).
- We'll need evidence of your right to work in the UK, in the form of a passport/birth certificate.
