Job Opportunity: Electrical Maintenance Technician

We are seeking an ambitious and self-motivated Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team at McBride. As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production lines, performing routine maintenance tasks, and identifying areas for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks on assigned lines and equipment, ensuring they are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Produce and action T-cards for all jobs to be planned or carried out on assigned lines.
  • Work as part of the line crew to carry out all production tasks required on assigned lines.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management regarding technical issues and status of assigned lines and equipment.
  • Ensure lines are left in a fully functioning state for the next shift and maintain accurate records of downtime.
  • Maintain change-parts shadow boards to support OEE levels on assigned lines and equipment.
  • Properly record all parts used for maintenance and repair, booking them out against line or equipment.
  • Interface with the maintenance planner and stores personnel for planning and provision of spares and materials.
  • Liaise with the Engineering Team Manager for workload planning and technical support.
  • Ensure all downtime is recorded correctly in the SAP system and identify areas for Continuous Improvement.
  • Contribute to SMED programmes and other lean activities, including changeover activities and cleaning schedules.
  • Perform preventive maintenance schedules and tasks, including lubrication and overhaul of spare modules.
  • Help identify and adhere to standard settings for all equipment and processes.
  • Contribute to improvement and replacement projects, providing technical training to production colleagues and engineering apprentices.
  • Self-train to maintain skill and knowledge base, building towards Electrician Plus skill-set.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained and improved, and that legal compliances are met for COMAH, ATEX/DSEAR, and other areas.
  • Take responsibility for the Engineering Investigation Team Role in the Emergency Evacuation Plan, presenting themselves in an emergency and taking steps to understand their duties.
  • Have a working knowledge of site fire alarm systems and emergency shutdown and isolation procedures.
  • Comply with Permit To Work systems, Isolation Procedures, and all other HSE Systems.

Technical Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Engineering skills obtained by time-served apprenticeship or equivalent (NVQ Level 3)
  • Plus skill-set is an additional Cross-trade NVQ Level 3 bolt-on to core role
  • Multi-skilled with proven basic electrical competency
  • Continuous improvement and root cause analysis skills
  • Literate and numerate (GCSE level English and Maths or equivalent desirable)
  • Ability to interpret documentation in English Language
  • Experience in food FMCG or equivalent process industry
  • Familiar with packaging lines, drives, conveyors, rotating machinery, pumping equipment, and valves
  • Familiar with pneumatically and hydraulically controlled systems
  • Competent in safe working procedures
