Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to join our team at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the implementation of our new finance system, ensuring a smooth transition and successful integration with our existing systems architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be an active member of the project team, partnering with our external supplier to deliver the new finance system on agreed timescales.
  • To coordinate workshops at the design stage to ensure requirements and configurations are clearly documented.
  • To plan and manage the successful migration of historical data from the old system to the new system.
  • To help implement new processes and controls to support the finance system implementation and ensure these are fully documented.
  • To oversee the successful integration of the solution within the existing systems architecture and appropriate interfaces with existing systems.
  • To ensure all security controls are in place in the system, providing users with the necessary access dependent on their roles/departments.
  • To provide training and support to the users of the new system, including writing a suite of training notes and guides.
  • To produce a suite of standard reports and bespoke versions as and when required.
  • To manage relevant Finance staff, ensuring work is allocated appropriately, work plans agreed, results are monitored, feedback given, and any performance issues are resolved.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience working in an accountancy environment.
  • AAT qualified or equivalent.
  • Experience in the administration of computerised financial systems.
  • Able to handle a varied workload within set deadlines.
  • Ability to manage complex issues and have sound analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to operate with probity, e.g. awareness and adherence to all legislative regulations relating to financial matters.
