Strategic Business Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Strategic Business Manager to lead our marine science commercialisation efforts at SAMS Enterprise Limited.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to combine scientific research capabilities with business expertise in innovation transfer, project management, quality, and consultancy work. As a senior manager, you will oversee all commercial activity for this business area, leading a team of staff including technical product specialists and business support.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience delivering successful commercial activities for an academic institute or scientific research environment, preferably with knowledge of the marine environment. A business degree or equivalent experiential learning is essential, along with highly developed interpersonal skills, including influencing, negotiating, and effective team management.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of commercial strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
- Manage a team of professionals to deliver high-quality commercial services, including project management, quality assurance, and consultancy work.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry clients, identifying new business opportunities and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the senior management team and SAMS Board to align commercial objectives with organisational goals.
- A competitive salary range of £64,914 - £70,000 per annum (DoE), reflecting your experience and qualifications.
- 25 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 days after 4 years service, plus annual leave purchasing scheme.
- 6 months full sick pay followed by 6 months at half pay (over a 4-year period).
