Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer to join our team at the University of Edinburgh. As a key member of our Security Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors.
About the Role
The Security Officer will be responsible for providing 24/7 security cover across the University campus. This will involve patrolling the campus on foot and in vehicle, responding to fire and intruder alarms, and providing immediate support and guidance in the event of an incident or crime.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and communication skills to students, staff, and visitors.
- Remain calm and composed under pressure, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
- Work effectively as part of a team to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Operate a range of security equipment, including CCTV systems and alarm response systems.
- Provide welfare support and signpost individuals to other agencies as required.
Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to remain calm under pressure and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Full driving licence and ability to drive a variety of vehicles.
- Computer literate and able to use a range of software systems.
- Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
