About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Central Bedfordshire Council as a Relief Worker in Adult Services. As a key member of our team, you will provide support and care to adults with disabilities, helping them to reach their full potential.

Our Residential and Respite Services offer a safe, stimulating, and welcoming environment for adults with learning disabilities. As a Relief Worker, you will work closely with our team to provide physical, emotional, and personal care needs, ensuring that each individual receives the best possible support.

With a focus on independence and community involvement, you will help adults to develop their skills and knowledge, promoting their overall well-being and quality of life. You will also work collaboratively with other agencies and families to ensure that each individual receives comprehensive care and support.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of adults with disabilities, while developing your career in a supportive and inclusive environment.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and flexible individuals with excellent communication skills and a passion for caring for people with disabilities. A NVQ Level 2 in Residential Social Care is desirable, but not essential. We offer ongoing training and development opportunities to ensure that our team members feel confident and competent in their roles.

As a Relief Worker, you will work on a shift basis, including days, nights, sleep-ins, evenings, and weekends. You will also be required to work with adults and others to assess needs and develop Care Plans, Risk Assessments, and other relevant documents.

What We Offer

As a member of our team, you will enjoy a generous benefits package, including:

  • Generous family-friendly policies and practices
  • A supportive and inclusive environment that values and celebrates differences
  • Staff network and support groups
  • Annual leave allowance 25 days + statutory holidays rising to 32 days with length of service
  • Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
  • An Employee Assistance Programme offering support to all employees through workplace changes as well as other work, family, and personal issues
  • Training and Learning offer – we have access to hundreds of courses and role-specific training is also available
