Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Hospice at Home team. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a minimum of 30 hours is required for this role.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will work under the supervision of a Community Clinical Nurse Specialist to:

  • Develop and implement high standards of palliative care for patients and their carers in the community setting.
  • Participate in clinical and education activities related to developing specialist palliative care in the community.
  • Sustain and develop relationships between The Princess Alice Hospice Community Team and Primary Healthcare Teams.
  • Identify and develop personal objectives relevant to developing professional practice for this role.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Flexible and motivated approach.
  • Pleasant and calm manner.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong team working skills.
  • Full driving licence and car.
  • Awareness of and commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of the Hospice.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

The following qualifications and experience are desirable:

  • Post-registration experience.
  • Palliative care, oncology or community experience.
  • Interest in research and audit.
  • Experience in mentoring and clinical supervision.
Specialist Knowledge and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Knowledge of current healthcare and nursing policy and provision.
  • Understanding of specialist palliative care provision.
Requirements

The post holder will be required to:

  • Work under the supervision of a Community Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Participate in on-call rota, including weekends and bank holidays.
