Babcock International Group is a leading provider of engineering services, and we're seeking a skilled Naval Architect to join our team. As a Naval Architect, you'll play a critical role in supporting the complex shipbuilding program, developing design solutions through the entire life cycle of a platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of technical solutions, from concept design studies to final vessel acceptance.
  • Develop design solutions and produce substantiation reports for tasks undertaken, including stability assessment and concept designs.
  • Work within design teams throughout the design lifecycle, ensuring the functionality of design.
  • Belong to the wider engineering capability group and support other projects in different roles within your discipline.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week, and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2/3 days in the office/onsite and 2/3 days working from home.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in the naval/marine industry.
  • Awareness of using a variety of naval architecture packages, such as Paramarine, NAPA, Foran, Aveve, and Ansys, and design packages, such as ship stability, 2D & 3D CAD.

Qualifications:

  • Either a Degree qualified or HND/HNC level qualification in an Engineering discipline with design experience in the marine or defence industry.
  • A member of a relevant institution, such as RINA, IET, IMechE, or IMarEst, and either hold Chartered engineer status or working towards Chartered engineering status.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
