Babcock International Group is seeking a skilled Naval Architect to join our team. As a Naval Architect, you will play a key role in supporting the complex shipbuilding programme, developing designs solutions through the entire life cycle of a platform.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery of technical solutions, from concept design studies, new build bid submissions to final vessel acceptance.
  • Developing design solutions as well as producing substantiation reports for tasks undertaken including stability assessment, concept designs etc, under the guidance of Senior and Principal naval architects.
  • Working within design teams throughout the design lifecycle helping to ensure functionality of design.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2/3 days in the office/onsite and 2/3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Naval Architect

  • Experience in the naval/marine industry.
  • Awareness of using a variety of naval architecture packages e.g., Paramarine, NAPA, Foran, Aveve, Ansys etc, and design packages e.g., ship stability, 2D & 3D CAD.

Qualifications for the Naval Architect

  • Either Degree qualified or HND/HNC level qualification in an Engineering discipline with design experience in the marine or defence industry.
  • You will be a member of a relevant institution (e.g., RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and either hold Chartered engineer status or working towards Chartered engineering status.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
