Patient Safety Manager

The NHS South East London Integrated Care Board is seeking a highly skilled Patient Safety Specialist to join our Quality and Nursing Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic healthcare professional to play a key role in assisting the embedding of the National Patient Safety Strategy across South East London.
Main Responsibilities- Support the development of a patient safety culture and safety systems, engaging with stakeholders across the South East London Integrated Care System.
- Implement the Patient Safety Strategy to improve understanding of safety and promote skills and opportunities in patient safety, designing and supporting programs to deliver effective and sustainable change.
- Work collaboratively with local healthcare organizations to develop links and relationships with patient safety and other relevant leads in networks, sharing good practice and acting collaboratively to improve patient safety.
- Contribute to and maintain the quality and performance/outcome indicator dashboards and other databases, ensuring full compliance with best practice requirements and informing prioritization and decision-making across the organization.
- Manage, develop, and deliver systems and processes to support the reporting, reviewing, investigation, follow-up, and implementation of actions required in response to reported patient safety incidents of all grades and severity.
- Monitor the functioning and effectiveness of quality systems and processes, making recommendations for improvement and working with senior managers to develop and implement action plans.
- Advise the Associate Director and Director of Quality on emerging clinical concerns from analysis of quality alerts, complaints, and patient safety events.
- Provide assurance to the quality directorate that commissioning processes are in place that promote quality improvement across the three key dimensions of patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and patient experience.
- Ensure that there are systems and processes in place to support and contribute to the development of quality specifications/standards and the collection and analysis of quality-related data.
- Master's degree or equivalent level of experience working at a senior level in a specialist area.
- Demonstrated experience of coordinating projects in complex and challenging environments.
- Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures.
- Demonstrable experience/knowledge of the patient safety strategy.
- Evidence of designing support programs to deliver effective and sustainable change.
- Evidence of initiating/supporting quality improvement projects.
