Job Title: Homeless Accommodation Officer

At the London Borough of Lambeth, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Homeless Accommodation Officer to join our Temporary Accommodation Move On Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families in temporary accommodation to find their next home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out visits to individuals and families in temporary accommodation to understand their housing needs and circumstances.
  • Work with households to complete housing needs assessments and carry out property and occupancy checks.
  • Implement the Council's legal duties to individuals living in temporary accommodation, including making decisions on eligible offers of move-on accommodation and completing discharges.
  • Build and maintain relationships with residents, providing sensitive and empathetic support to help them overcome barriers to move-on.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with people who are or have been homeless, or who are in vulnerable situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of housing options, homelessness law and practice, and related fields such as housing benefits and welfare rights.
  • A valid Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
