Research Manager Job Description

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Research Manager to support the commissioning and management of a high-profile portfolio of clinical and applied health research infrastructure funding schemes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement end-to-end processes to support funding calls, including developing guidance, FAQs, selection criteria, and overseeing the contracting process for funded applications.
  • Manage contractual requests, changes, and annual reporting, ensuring compliance with NIHR's policies and procedures.
  • Develop an annual programme of meetings to support the networking and collaboration of scheme Directors, including organising meeting agendas, developing content for papers, and drafting reports and presentations.
  • Provide flexible support to the team and community, conducting additional administration tasks and providing a high level of support during peak work times.
Requirements:
  • A Master's or PhD degree in biomedical or health sciences research.
  • Experience working in a research funding environment, with a focus on healthcare research.
  • Research management experience in the NHS or HEIs, or clinical trial/study management.
  • Current knowledge of the UK's health and care research and policy landscape.
