Job Title: Senior Programme Manager/Senior Programme Director

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) team as a Senior Programme Manager/Senior Programme Director.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of experts dedicated to advancing and executing our PPIE strategy. As a Senior Programme Manager/Senior Programme Director, you will be responsible for providing expert advice, guidance, and monitoring to NIHR domestic and global health programmes, Infrastructure, Schools, and Units on the development and delivery of their strategic plans for public/community involvement and engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support research programmes by recruiting public contributors to act as reviewers of applications and committee members.
  • Support programme teams in monitoring performance of research awards against contractual requirements for PPIE, and provide support to public contributors, public involvement leads, and programme teams, including learning and development.
Requirements
  • Degree in humanities, arts, and social sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of patient and public involvement in the community or healthcare sector and/or research.
  • Experience in planning, delivery, monitoring, review, and reporting strategies.
  • Experience of working with the public, building stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective planning/organisational skills.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent IT skills, including the use of Google Apps.
  • Experience of successfully managing and developing staff.

This is a full-time, permanent, office-based, hybrid role, with an expectation for all employees to attend our offices a minimum of 4 days a month, usually worked as 1 day per week, and may increase, subject to team requirements.
