Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Autism Education Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning, development, and wellbeing of autistic pupils across two London boroughs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have an outstanding record as a classroom practitioner with solid experience in assessing SEN pupils, delivering training, and evaluating support programmes. You will advise schools on how best to include autistic pupils and promote access to the whole curriculum.

You will also work collaboratively with other services in the Bi-Borough and access training to keep abreast of new thinking within the field of autism. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, good organisational skills, and the ability to establish strong working relationships with a wide range of people, including children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver crucial training on autism to professionals and families
  • Advise schools on how best to include autistic pupils and promote access to the whole curriculum
  • Work collaboratively with other services in the Bi-Borough and access training to stay up-to-date with new thinking within the field of autism
  • Establish strong working relationships with a wide range of people, including children
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS)
  • Specialist autism training, e.g. SCERTS, Attention Autism, TEACCH, PECS
  • Knowledge of the SEND code of practice and KCSIE 2021
