Job Title: Practice Nurse Specialist

Job Summary: As a key member of the practice team, the Practice Nurse Specialist will play a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing services to patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of nursing services, including infection prevention, health promotion, and chronic disease management.
Main Responsibilities:
- Providing routine patient care tasks, including wound care, removal of sutures, and travel clinic support
- Conducting cytology, ECGs, venepuncture, and other diagnostic procedures
- Managing hypertension, immunizations, and other health conditions
- Chaperoning patients and assisting with minor surgery
- Requesting pathology tests and following clinical protocols
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment, including medical devices and instruments
- Stocking and rotating medical supplies, including medications and vaccines
- Ensuring the cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and clinical areas
- Participating in administrative systems, including electronic health records and practice management software
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Attending practice meetings and contributing to team discussions
Person Specification:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in primary care, including diabetes, COPD, and asthma management
- Knowledge of long-term conditions and experience in mentoring/training
- Experience as an IPC lead or in a similar role
