About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Health Psychologist to join our team at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. As a Practitioner Psychologist, you will play a vital role in providing specialist psychology services to cancer and palliative care patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist psychology services to cancer and palliative care patients, including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, and monitoring of outcomes.
  • Contribute to creating a psychologically safe and informed environment for staff, service users, and carers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Initiate and collaborate in service evaluation, audit, and research.
  • Provide clinical supervision, consultation, and training for multidisciplinary team staff and other psychological practitioners.
  • Work as an autonomous professional within BPS and HCPC guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies, standards, and procedures of the service, Psychological Services Network, and Trust.

Requirements
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, as accredited by the BPS, and eligible for BPS Chartered Psychology Status and registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Experience of working within clinical health psychology services, applying clinical or counselling psychology in culturally diverse contexts, and exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment.
  • Knowledge of legislation and healthcare guidelines, and their implications for clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group and mental health.
  • Ability to articulate and interpret the role of clinical health psychology, and skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Formal training in supervision of trainee psychologists, post-doctoral training in models specifically relevant to cancer and palliative care, and experience working in specialist cancer and palliative care services.
  • Experience of contributing to or leading service development and quality improvement projects, involving and working with patients/service users, and working in/with third-sector cancer support and information providers.
  • Peer-reviewed publications and/or grant awards in topics relevant to psycho-oncology, and knowledge of Macmillan Cancer Support.
