Preston, Lancashire, United Kingdom Westinghouse Electric Company LLC. Full time

The delivery of the Westinghouse UK Fuel Growth Program is crucial to the future nuclear fuel products for all current and future reactor types and is a fundamental part of the UK Government's Nuclear Roadmap and Net Zero 2050 commitment. The portfolio is fundamental to the Westinghouse UK Fuel long-term strategy and essential for the growth of Springfields Fuels site.

We are seeking a Project Manager who excels in a complex and regulated nuclear environment, demonstrating both dynamism and drive. The role will be varied and wide-ranging with the successful candidate supporting a diverse portfolio of projects in a number of operational production plant, laboratory, and site infrastructure support areas. The responsibilities start at business planning and follow through bid, delivery to contract closure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver the full project lifecycle from feasibility through bidding and contract award to complete outcome realization.
  • Manage the project team to develop plans, secure financial, human, and physical resources, and manage the risks to deliver outcomes safely, economically, and efficiently.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to secure the best possible outcome for the business unit in meeting project objectives on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Understand and align project priorities with those of the ongoing business unit and operational plants, reporting risks and issues through established procedural processes.
  • Address cultural and personnel issues associated with implementing change.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage risks and opportunities.
  • Facilitate appointments to project teams and work with functional managers to secure the necessary skills and experience to meet project objectives.
  • Ensure all projects are staffed with suitably qualified and experienced personnel and that projects are established and delivered in compliance with Westinghouse procedures.
  • Maintain seniority for responsibilities and accountabilities within the project environment, being proactive and visible as the driving force behind the project plan.
  • Provide mentoring and training opportunities for less experienced project professionals to ensure adherence to policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Contribute to customer offers, including basis of estimate documents, risk and assumption modeling, and costs provided to business cases.
  • Lead problem-solving and scenario modeling activities.

The Project Manager will oversee the project lifecycle, from initiation and bidding to completion and evaluation, reporting to the UK Fuel Head of Programs. The project portfolio is renowned, complex, and highly valuable, exceeding £1B. This role involves coordinating with a broad range of stakeholders across Commercial, Finance, Operations, Safety, and Quality, as well as international counterparts in the US and Japan. Additionally, the Project Manager will engage with external stakeholders like the UK Government's DESNZ and NDA.
