About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of SEMH to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Teacher of SEMH, you will play a vital role in providing engaging and inclusive education for young people who have faced significant challenges in mainstream settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching to students with SEMH needs in a small class setting.
  • Plan and deliver creative and differentiated lessons that meet individual learning objectives.
  • Support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of students, working collaboratively with the wider team.
  • Manage challenging behaviours effectively, using a range of strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress and set achievable goals.
  • Engage with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment that promotes well-being and learning.
Requirements
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Have experience working with students with SEMH needs, either in mainstream or alternative provisions.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH and have a genuine commitment to supporting their academic and personal development.
  • Be able to manage behaviour effectively, employing de-escalation techniques and promoting positive reinforcement.
  • Be flexible, resilient, and able to adapt to the individual needs of each student.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively with staff, students, and families.
  • Be passionate about making a real difference to the lives of young people with additional needs.
