Transport Planner Job Description

At Univar Solutions, we are seeking a skilled Transport Planner to join our Transport Planning team. As a Transport Planner, you will play a crucial role in planning UK transportation volume efficiently and cost-effectively to meet KPI and budgetary targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and validate systematic plans created in the Transport Management System (TMS) to ensure they meet specified criteria and make improvements where necessary to minimize spend.
  • Pre-plan volume where appropriate by reviewing order screens and planning ahead on specific relevant orders to improve vehicle utilization and realign orders to save on carrier costs.
  • Closely control and monitor costs, responsible for recording common carrier expenditure, and adhere to cost budgets while actively striving to reduce costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Responsible for freight settlement, managing invoices in query, validating costs, and approving or declining differences.
  • Support and implement systematic improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the transport planning process.
  • Responsible for arranging haulage and managing assigned haulers relevant to operational sites.
  • Actively support and play a key role in adopting the TMS system across the UK in the most cost-efficient and logical manner.

The successful candidate will have good transport experience, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and be flexible with work times. It is essential that you are self-motivated, willing to learn, and have the relevant transport knowledge. You will have high standards in all that you do and possess excellent customer service skills.
