Accounting Support Role

GMP Recruitment is proud to partner with a successful organisation in central Edinburgh, providing accounting services to various industries in the local area.

We are supporting their recruitment for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team on a full-time, permanent contract. This company offers security, stability, and great career progression opportunities.

The salary on offer is up to £32K, pending relevant experience. An immediate start is available for the successful candidate.

To be considered, we are looking for a candidate with an AAT qualification and at least 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data entry: recording financial transactions and balancing accounts
  • Bank reconciliations: cross-referencing accounts against bank statements and other source documents to confirm accuracy
  • Monthly reporting: summarising the business's financial position
  • Accounts receivable and payable
  • End of year reporting: assisting with annual profit and loss and balance sheet reports
  • Business strategy: creating budgets and forecasting, and advising on how to improve the business
  • Journal entries
  • Ensuring accurate VAT coding and account allocation
  • Updating and maintaining procedural documentation via Xero and Xero add-ons
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience
  • AAT certified or working towards a professional accounting diploma
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
