About the Role

Muhlenberg College seeks a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director, Annual Giving to join our Advancement team. This key role will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive annual solicitation plans to increase total annual giving revenue and participation rates of current student and young alumni constituencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects through exploratory, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship visits, with goals set at the beginning of each fiscal year.
  • Develop strategies and engagement opportunities for the Emerging Philanthropists volunteer fundraising committee during current and future comprehensive campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Vice President for Development and Assistant Director for Annual Giving Operations on the execution of Muhlenberg's Mulementum day of giving program.
  • Assist in the execution of the Mule Madness competition, Muhlenberg's annual athletic fundraising effort.
  • Manage events in collaboration with other campus departments and constituents.
Student Engagement
  • Educate and steward students on philanthropy and its impact.
  • Oversee the Red Door Dialers program, a yearly phonathon program.
  • Coordinate efforts of student philanthropy through the senior class campaign.
  • Organize student events, including Senior Wine and Cheese, Champagne Brunch, Bell Tower tours, and other student engagement opportunities.
Alumni Affairs
  • Partner with the Alumni Affairs department for Alumni Weekend outreach and help staff AW, including working as a Development liaison for classes in the Reunion Giving program.
  • Serve as an Annual Giving resource in all Alumni Board meetings, providing timely updates on activity and philanthropic results.
  • Design, develop, and implement a robust Class Leadership Committee Chair program.
  • Manage programming, education, solicitation, and stewardship for Young Alumni appeals, Phonathons, and T.H.A.W (Toast Heard Around the World).
Advancement Communications/Advancement Services
  • Manage the Advancement Communication project data to create and ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Services department on the creation of needed lists and reports for various appeals and activities.
  • Build effective working relationships with key departments, administrators, and faculty members to ensure a collaborative spirit in regards to fundraising efforts, specifically serving as a liaison between Advancement and assigned academic and administrative departments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundraising techniques, volunteer management, donor relations, and stewardship.
  • Excellent skills in analysis, organization, and planning.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Experience in higher education or non-profits, preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed fashion while serving as a member of a collaborative Annual Giving team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/proficiency with Google Workspace and fundraising software.
  • Successful completion of satisfactory background checks.
