About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical and Mechanical Craftsperson to join our Engineering and Maintenance team in Glasgow and the surrounding areas. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing critical infrastructure that delivers clean water and removes wastewater from homes, businesses, and industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with our E&M team to deliver a proactive service to ensure plant and equipment are safe and working effectively
  • Use your electrical and mechanical skills to problem-solve technical issues, think outside the box to fault find and diagnose
  • Work in a time-sensitive environment, often in confined spaces, on a range of equipment including 3-phase and single-phase equipment, motors, motor starters, generators, actuators, level monitoring equipment, variable speed drives, and instrumentation
  • Perform general maintenance on pumps, valves, gearboxes, pipe fitting, and assist mechanical craftsperson with multiple-person tasks
  • Ensure your safety and the safety of others by taking necessary steps to protect yourself and others, including risk assessments, choosing appropriate equipment, and following safe working practices
  • Work closely with our office support team to plan and coordinate resources across the region, with the shared goal of delivering an effective and cost-efficient response to incidents, reactive or planned work, while looking for innovative ways to continually drive improvements

Requirements

  • Served a full apprenticeship and have an HNC or NC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Full GB-issued Driving License (DVLA) to reach our sites, as most are not accessible by public transport
  • Happy to work on a standby rota, with a standby retainer payment to compensate
  • Confident, friendly, and able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers about work being carried out on site, giving progress reports, and keeping people up to date
  • Comfortable using computer systems and online learning modules to get up to speed quickly
