About the Role

The Market Hall Venue Manager will be the driving force behind the £35m transformation project to restore Derby's finest architectural assets and bring the city's fine market tradition back to the city centre. This role will be responsible for programming great activity, managing and developing relationships across the venue and city, and connecting Derby's great communities and partners to help them collaborate, grow, and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team that provides an exceptional customer experience to visitors of the venue
  • Develop a varied programme of cultural and market activity to attract, inspire, and enthral audiences
  • Support traders to flourish, growing successful businesses and building communities
  • Advocate and promote the offer to ensure the venue is visible and a clear asset as part of the city's regeneration
  • Actively look at programmes that support diversity, inclusion, and education
  • Drive continual improvement and commercial development
  • Liaise and report with stakeholders to ensure sound governance and understanding of the venue

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

  • Exceptional communication skills
  • An ability to curate and programme excellent activity
  • A strong background in a market or retail environment
  • Connections with Derby's creative community
  • A drive for improvement
  • A good grounding in Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Excellent budget management
  • The ability to manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Leadership and a background in improving the customer experience
