About the Role

The Market Hall Venue Manager will be the driving force behind the successful launch and operation of the Derby Market Hall, a £35m transformation project that aims to restore one of the city's finest architectural assets and bring Derby's fine market tradition back to the city.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team that provides an exceptional customer experience to visitors of the venue
  • Develop a varied programme of cultural and market activity to attract, inspire and enthral audiences
  • Support traders to flourish, growing successful businesses and building communities
  • Advocate and promote the offer to ensure the venue is visible and a clear asset as part of the city's regeneration
  • Actively look at programmes that support diversity, inclusion and education
  • Drive continual improvement and commercial development
  • Liaise and report with stakeholders to ensure sound governance and understanding of the venue

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

  • Exceptional communication skills
  • An ability to curate and programme excellent activity
  • A strong background in a market or retail environment
  • Connections with Derby's creative community
  • A drive for improvement
  • A good grounding in Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Excellent budget management
  • The ability to manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Leadership and a background in improving the customer experience
