If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Furniture Collection and Delivery Driver to join our trading team at St Catherine's Hospice.

About the Role

As a Furniture Collection and Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for collecting and delivering furniture and other donations from the homes of our supporters and delivering purchased furniture from our shops and warehouse to our customers. You will also be delivering donated stock to shops and collecting unsalable goods for recycling. You will work closely with our trading team to ensure a professional service is provided to our customers.

Person Specification

Essential
  • Full, clean, current driving license
  • General proficient level of literacy and numeracy
Desirable
  • Customer service-related qualification or experience
  • Advanced driving qualification or training
Attitude and Behaviours
Essential
  • Ability to safely manage large and/or heavy goods being donated or delivered
  • Stamina and enthusiasm for hands-on physical work
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of team
  • Pleasant manner and ability to present a positive image of the hospice to donors and customers
  • Ability to use diplomacy when dealing with donors and the public
  • Ability to keep vehicle clean and roadworthy
  • Flexibility and willingness to work varying hours as and when required to cover staff shortages/sickness/holiday cover
  • High standard of integrity and reliability
  • Willingness and desire to work in accordance with hospice values
Experience
Essential
  • Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with public, staff and volunteers
  • Basic maintenance knowledge of transport vehicles
  • Personal organisational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience
  • Ability to safely manage heavy loads and follow Manual Handling techniques
Desirable
  • Experience of goods deliveries
  • Vehicle maintenance knowledge/experience
  • Experience of route planning and organisation
  • Some knowledge of St Catherine's Hospice work in the community, including its charity shops
  • Awareness of statutory regulations including H&S legislation, trading standards, hygiene etc
