Support a Vulnerable Adult as a Shared Lives Carer

Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference in someone's life? Wigan Council is seeking Shared Lives Carers to support local people who need assistance due to age, disability, or illness.

About the Role

As a Shared Lives Carer, you will provide support and companionship to an adult who needs help with daily tasks and activities. You will be matched with an individual who shares your interests and values, and you will work together to create a personalized support plan.

Types of Placements
  • Full-Time Placement: You will provide a long-term home for an individual, offering a furnished bedroom and encouraging them to participate in family life.
  • Respite/Short-Term Break: You will provide temporary support and care for an individual, either overnight or for a longer period.
  • Emergency Support: You will provide immediate support and care in times of crisis.
  • Day Support: You will provide support and companionship to an individual during the day, engaging in activities and exploring new opportunities.
Requirements
  • Be over 18 years old
  • Have a minimum of 4 hours per week to spare
  • Have a spare bedroom for long-term and short-break/respite support
  • Be caring and want to develop new relationships
