Teaching Assistant Opportunity in Secondary Education

We are working closely with successful secondary schools and colleges in the Newcastle area with support staff vacancies for a Psychology graduate teaching assistant role.

This type of role provides the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a school setting for future career progression into teaching or working with children and young people, for example, Education Psychology courses or clinical courses.

No prior experience is required - just a willingness to get involved in the classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on a 1:1 basis with students who require additional support
  • Provide general classroom support
  • Opportunities for progression onto our Future Teachers Programme

Requirements:

  • Be able to communicate effectively with other staff and students, monitoring developments and progress
  • Be composed, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour and situations
  • Have transferable skills and a genuine interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs
