Job Title: Collections Strategist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collections Strategist to join our team at The University of Manchester Library. As a key member of our Collection Strategies Directorate, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to manage our vast and rich collections.

About the Role:

This is a brand-new role that requires a deep understanding of the issues surrounding building and managing collections in a large academic library. You will work closely with our team to identify opportunities to improve our collections and develop data-driven solutions to tackle the challenges we face.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to manage our print collections collaboratively with other research libraries in the UK.
  • Work with our data team to analyze and visualize collections-related data, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with busy managers and committees, providing clear and concise reports on collections-related issues.
  • Collaborate with our collection development team to identify and acquire new materials that support student needs.
