About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Microbiologist to join our team at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. As a key member of our Microbiology department, you will play a vital role in providing clinical advisory services, developing clinical guidelines, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with clinicians, hospital staff, and general practitioners to diagnose, manage, and prevent infections.
- Provide clinical guidance on antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention.
- Authorise and interpret laboratory results.
- Develop and implement policies for antimicrobial use in our trust.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines.
- Support the implementation of infection prevention and control policies.
Person Specification
- GMC registration.
- FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
- Higher-level training in Clinical Microbiology, including infection prevention.
- Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team and maintain good relations with contacts.
- Experience of audit and implementation of change following audit.
- Understanding of and ability to demonstrate strategic influence, collaborative working, and drive for improvement.
- Knowledge of principles of antimicrobial stewardship.
