Job Title: Medical Records Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Officer to join our team at Cromwell Hospital. As a Medical Records Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Locate, prepare, and distribute medical records to Outpatients, Admissions, and other departments within the hospital, while maintaining an accurate tracer card system.
  • Retrieve and modify patient details from the hospital computer. File and retrieve all case notes, pathology results, and any other relevant documentation to maintain an up-to-date filing system.
  • Adhere to and complete procedures relating to the secondary storage, retention, and archiving of medical records on the scanning systems in use within the department.
  • Deal with all telephone calls and enquiries in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and display an understanding of the implication of the Data Protection Act and the Access to Medical Records Policy for the release of information.
  • Prepare and complete all the necessary Medical Record reception duties in O.P.D. and compile daily statistics and maintain departmental registers.

Requirements:

  • Good standard of education and I.T. literacy.
  • It would be desirable to have experience in a healthcare environment or previous medical records knowledge or similar filing experience.
  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills.
  • Administration experience.
  • Organisational skills.
