Achieve Qualified Teacher Status with Our Pathway to Teaching Specialist Programme

This Pathway to Teaching Specialist role provides a two-year structured support to progress from assistant to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through a teaching apprenticeship in a specialist autism setting.

Position: Pathway to Teaching Specialist
Location: Hemel Hempstead
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Salary: £22,500 - £26,500 per annum, dependent on experience
Contract: Permanent post (hired through Academics agency)

About the Role:

  • You will begin as an assistant, gaining hands-on experience and understanding our holistic approach to autism education.
  • Over year one, you'll support students in class as an assistant/tutor, gradually taking on teaching responsibilities.
  • By year two, you'll work as an unqualified teacher and enroll in a teaching apprenticeship with a university partner to achieve QTS.

Key Requirements:

  • Must hold a degree; an education-related subject is preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and a commitment to pursuing teaching
  • Comfortable with behaviour management strategies and open to physical intervention when necessary

We are a team of experts in Occupational Therapy Speech and Language Therapy and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support, dedicated to providing holistic student care.

We have grown significantly since opening, now offering education up to Year 9 across two sites and expanding to Key Stage 4.
