Overview
As a Deputy Shop Manager at The Hospice of St Francis, you will play a crucial role in driving sales and maximizing shop profitability. You will be working closely with the manager to achieve annual budgets and targets.

Main Responsibilities
- Support the Shop Manager in driving sales and maximizing shop profitability.
- Be responsible for Gift Aid on donations to maximize income and achieve shop targets.
- Assist the Shop Manager in supporting volunteers.
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
- Champion sustainability wherever possible across the shop operation.
- Support the Shop Manager in maintaining a high standard of presentation of merchandise.
- Oversee all operational matters relating to the successful running of the shop.
- Manage and operate agreed stock rotation systems.
- Initiate and implement a programme of promotional activity and events.
- Follow agreed till, cashing up, and banking procedures.
- Support the Shop Manager in proactive use of social media to promote the shop and engage with the local community.
- Support the Shop Manager in training of prospective and existing volunteers.
- Show real appreciation to donors for all donated items.
- Support the Hospice Fundraising and Communications teams to promote key events in the shop and the organization as a whole.
- Support the Shop Manager in recruitment and induction of new employees and volunteers.
- Act as an ambassador for The Hospice and proactively build links within the local community.
Requirements
- Previous charity retail experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong operational and organizational skills.
- Good numeracy and IT skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a busy environment.
- Physical strength and pace to cope with manual lifting and handling.
- Flexibility and availability to work weekends.
