Support a Child with Special Needs

We are seeking a caring and patient Support Worker for Children to join our team at UKCIL Ltd in Leeds. As a Specialist Support Worker, you will provide daily care and support to a 7-year-old girl with Down Syndrome and neurodivergent conditions.

About the Role
  • This is a part-time position requiring approximately 6 hours of work per week during school holidays.
  • You will be responsible for assisting with daily activities, social events, and personal care.
  • The ideal candidate will be honest, reliable, punctual, non-judgmental, and able to build trust with the child and their family.
  • You should also be flexible and adaptable, as this role requires working alone and with family members.
  • A driving license and car insurance are required, as you will need to transport the child on occasion.
  • A strong understanding of equality and diversity, confidentiality, and specialist communication skills are essential.
  • Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively communicate with the child, their family, and other professionals involved in their care.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with toileting and intimate care, ensuring the child's physical and emotional well-being.
  • Help with dressing and undressing, promoting independence and dignity.
  • Support with food and drink, ensuring a balanced diet and hydration.
  • Accompany the child to social events like music gigs and the cinema, enhancing their social and recreational experiences.

Salary and Benefits
  • This is a paid role, offering £40 per hour.
