Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Conflict Adviser to join our team at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. As a Conflict Adviser, you will play a critical role in supporting the UK's diplomatic, development, and consular work around the world.

You will be responsible for leading the UK's conflict policy engagement, developing policy, and contributing to influencing strategies. You will also engage with senior officials and Ministers to ensure that the UK's conflict policy objectives are met.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of delivering conflict outcomes at Expert Level, with significant relevant experience in conflict analysis, strategy development, and conflict response. You will be recognised for your specialist or technical knowledge and/or skill, underpinned by extensive experience applied in practice on complex issues.

We offer a competitive salary of £53,000, plus a Civil Service pension scheme, 25 days annual leave, and 9 days public and privilege holidays. You will also have access to learning and development opportunities tailored to your role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement conflict policy and strategies to support the UK's diplomatic, development, and consular work around the world.
  • Engage with senior officials and Ministers to ensure that the UK's conflict policy objectives are met.
  • Provide technical oversight and lead technical advice into the design, delivery, monitoring, evaluation, and learning of FCDO conflict projects and programmes.
  • Establish constructive relationships with key individuals and organisations, including representing FCDO with relevant partners and in relevant forums.
Requirements
  • Be a British Citizen at the time of application.
  • Have a demonstrable track record of delivering conflict outcomes at Expert Level.
  • Be recognised for specialist or technical knowledge and/or skill, underpinned by extensive experience applied in practice on complex issues.
  • Have significant relevant experience in conflict analysis, strategy development, and conflict response.
