Housing Support Specialist

This role is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of disadvantaged individuals. As a Housing Support Specialist, you will play a key part in ensuring housing services are managed effectively, helping to build safer and stronger communities.
As a passionate advocate for social justice and housing, you will be responsible for maximising income, collaborating with support workers and housing management teams, and providing expert advice on housing law, welfare benefits, and exempt accommodation rules.
This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Main Responsibilities
- Income Recovery:
Monitor rent accounts and address arrears, ensuring timely payments and minimal debt. - Collaborative Action:
Work closely with support workers and housing management teams to manage arrears, identify solutions, and implement effective strategies. - Benefits Engagement:
Liaise with housing benefit and welfare benefit advisors to ensure complex cases are resolved efficiently and effectively. - Tenancy Support:
Enforce tenancy conditions, ensuring compliance with tenancy and license agreements. - Induct and Train:
Support new starters with training on housing management and tenancy creation, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. - Promote Prevention:
Advise on and manage less complex anti-social behaviour cases, promoting a positive and respectful living environment. - Legal Duties:
Prepare documentation, including notices, witness statements, and court documents, to support the organisation's legal proceedings. - Court Representation:
Represent the organisation in court when necessary, presenting evidence and advocating for the rights of vulnerable individuals. - Estate Management/Property Standards:
Deliver training on property standards, maintaining documentation and reporting systems to ensure compliance and excellence. - Policy Access:
Provide access to policies and procedures regarding property standards, ensuring staff understand their roles and responsibilities.
