Job Overview

Sodexo is seeking a skilled and experienced Cleaning Chargehand to join our team at Edinburgh Academy Senior School. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the site's overall appearance and providing exceptional cleaning services to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for everyone.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Guidance: Train and provide guidance to cleaning staff on cleaning techniques, use of equipment, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Cleaning Operations: Assign cleaning duties, inspect work areas regularly to ensure cleanliness, and report any issues to the appropriate department.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies, equipment, and other related materials.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure compliance with sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative duties, including scheduling, attendance management, performance evaluations, and handling personnel matters.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance, to address specialized cleaning needs and resolve any facility-related issues promptly.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to optimize efficiency and productivity while maintaining a high level of cleanliness.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to staff, students, and visitors, responding promptly and effectively to cleanliness-related concerns or inquiries.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience as a cleaning chargehand, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge: Solid knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are needed to effectively interact with staff, students, and visitors.
  • Equipment Operation: Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and knowledge of safety precautions while operating them.
