Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining legacy systems, ensuring they meet the needs of our clients in the Financial Services Industry. This role requires a strong understanding of Dbase 5 Novell, DOS, and Linux, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Development
    • Analyze technical specifications and develop/modify in-house systems accordingly
    • Develop system changes and execute installations of developed systems using in-house standard practices
    • Understand, investigate, and produce gap analysis for change requests
  • Technical Support
    • Investigate and resolve system errors and crashes
    • Resolve allocated bugs/change requests/errors and other helpdesk jobs as allocated
  • Documentation and Training
    • Create and maintain documentation detailing the Company's development methodology and 'house style'
    • Provide support and assistance to other developers as required
    • Participate in the provision of relevant training as and when required
  • Client Communication
    • Discuss client requirements and proposed solutions with the IT team or our clients
    • Provide regular status updates to senior management and project team
  • Compliance and Governance
    • Ensure compliance with industry and statutory regulation
    • Responsibility for producing system development rules and ensuring adherence to them
    • Responsibility for developing and maintaining practices and procedures

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of Dbase 5 Novell, DOS, and Linux
  • Experience in requirements gathering and solution writing
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Development Lead experience
  • Understanding of the development and project lifecycles
  • Ability to work in a pressurized and fast-moving environment
  • High-quality development work
  • Ability to adapt to change with a flexible approach
  • Experience of working within the Financial Services Industry an advantage

Additional Knowledge

  • Understanding of and the ability to develop in OPAL house standard practices
  • Preferred knowledge of single premium and regular premium products
  • FSA competent
  • Acquire and implement knowledge and awareness of ISO27001
