About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Theatre Support Worker to join our dynamic team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. As a Theatre Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our perioperative team in delivering exceptional surgical services.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the healthcare sector and be able to demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach to patients, families, and colleagues. You will be able to work autonomously and as part of a diverse team, with a strong focus on delivering excellent patient care and contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist registered nurses with delegated clinical tasks and provide essential care to patients as directed
  • Work collaboratively as part of the healthcare team to help registered nurses and other healthcare practitioners in the work associated with providing care to meet the health and well-being of the child/young person and their families
  • Assist in maintaining a clean environment that is conducive to safe practice, cleaning patient equipment as required
  • Communicate clearly, effectively, and appropriately with the healthcare team, the child/young person, and their family/carers/visitors
Requirements
  • GCSE (Grade 4 – 9) in English and Mathematics or Functional Skills level 2 pass in English and Mathematics or equivalent recognised qualification
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (University Certificate of Competence in Principles of Children & Young People Healthcare, advanced diploma, Higher apprenticeship Level 3) or Healthcare Support Worker Level 2
  • Care Certificate
  • Willingness to develop and undertake in-house study
