We are seeking a dedicated web standards technologist to play a pivotal role in the advancement of W3C and other pertinent web standards. This position involves supporting content creators and the development community in leveraging these standards effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

The Web Standards Team at microTECH Global LTD is responsible for driving web strategy through:

  • Leading standardization initiatives within W3C and actively participating in the development of future web standards.
  • Collaborating with the web development community to advocate for web standards and to gather insights on future browser market requirements.
  • Providing strategic guidance to the development team to influence the future of the Internet browser and contributions to open-source projects.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Representing and engaging in W3C standards activities.
  • Contributing to the strategic direction of web standardization in alignment with browser and product roadmaps.
  • Guiding product strategy to ensure it aligns with the evolution of web standards.
  • Interacting with the developer community through various channels, including blog posts, conference presentations, and social media, to promote the adoption of web standards and Web Platform features.
  • Creating prototypes to assist in the development of APIs and demonstrating their use with both internal and external partners.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronics, Natural Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A solid background in web development with a comprehensive understanding of existing and emerging web standards, particularly those established by W3C.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, Web APIs, and related technologies.
  • Adept problem-solving skills, capable of delivering high-quality solutions within specified constraints and timelines.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and engagingly to diverse audiences at external events and conferences.
  • A willingness to travel internationally as required by business needs.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working within W3C standards/specification groups.
  • Familiarity with emerging privacy standardization efforts and privacy-preserving features in browsers.
  • Experience in creating technical blogs, contributing to podcasts, and engaging in other forms of social media communication.
  • Knowledge of the mobile device and browser market.
  • Familiarity with the Android platform.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond fluent English, both written and spoken.
